Ryan has been teaching piano since 2005 to students of all levels, ages 5-adult. He was classically trained beginning at the age of 5. Ryan composes frequently and he enjoys recording. Ryan tailors his teaching to each student’s unique learning style and personality. He teaches with a classical approach and supplements with chord charts, eventually leading to jazz. He encourages his students to explore their own musical interests. One of Ryan's primary goals is to inspire and motivate his students to find a passion for music and the piano. Ryan received his Bachelor's Degree from CSU Monterey Bay. He has a minor in music and a masters and teaching credential from Bethany University. Ryan holds 1 student recital per year.
What Will Be Learned: Songs, chord charts, theory, scales, sight reading, ear training, technique, composition, performance skills, and much more!
Lesson Schedule: Students will receive one lesson per week 4-5 times per month. Major holidays (Thanksgiving, July 4th, Christmas) are not automatically charged for. I do teach on minor holidays (Veterans Day, Memorial Day etc). December is a 3 lesson month.
Lesson Fees
$40 per 30-minute lesson. A typical month of 4 lessons is $160.
$55 per 45-minute lesson. A typical month of 4 lessons is $220.
Payments: I expect a payment for the entire month at the first lesson of each month.
Cancellation Policy: I charge for all cancellations, including sickness and vacations. If I need to cancel a lesson, a credit will be given.
No Show: On the occasion that a student doesn’t show up for their lesson and no prior notice was given, that lesson is still paid for and it is not eligible for a make-up lesson.
Make-up Lessons: I am willing to schedule make-up lessons if my schedule permits, provided that at least a 24 hour advance notice is given. Make-up lessons can be given during open time slots M-F. Please note that availability for scheduling a missed lesson may be extremely limited.
Summer Policy: The minimum amount of paid lessons for the summer months of June, July, and August is a combined total of 10 lessons. This gives 3 weeks of flexibility for both the family and myself.
Practice Requirements: Students need to be committed to practicing in order to make progress. Expectations will be discussed on an individual basis. In general, students should practice at least 5 days per week. Setting a timer isn’t required, but students should be completing their assignments each practice, typically 30 minutes.
